Movietowne owner disappointed with latest lockdown

MovieTowne owner Derek Chin has stated that the announcement that TT has been placed once again in lockdown mode – this time for three weeks – is very disappointing.

In a brief interview yesterday he said “Just when we thought things were gradually going back to normalcy we have to roll back once again. My opinion is, there should have been restrictions for the Easter as that is where the spikes are coming from. Thousands of persons were on the beaches and some measure of restriction should have been implemented.”

The latest Ministry of Health restrictions include: No in house dining in restaurants/cinemas/casinos/bars; public Gatherings will be reduced from 10 people to 5 and all Beaches in T&T closed to the public, including those found “Down D Islands.”

As a result of the latest restrictions, Chin made a decision to close his cineplexes at Invaders Bay, C3 in San Fernando and Lowlands in Tobago for the three-week lockdown.

He said from an economic standpoint it did not make sense if patrons could not eat and drink while watching a movie.
