Morris: TEMA reporting a reduction in flow of oil spill from the wrecked vessel in Tobago

Minority Leader in the Tobago House of Assembly, Kelvon Morris, is reporting officials from the Tobago Emergency Management Agency indicate there seems to be a reduction in the significant leaking from the wrecked vessel in Tobago.

He says a hydro survey has been done on elements which surround the vessel and what it is resting on has been completed.

Morris is of the view the actual clean-up could take some time and there are a number of teams involved in the process which is taking a lot of time and resources.

During an interview on Power 102 Digital on Wednesday, Morris was asked what is his level  of involvement to which he said the THA has not included him as part of their response adding he went personally and volunteered admitting it is not an easy task, to deal with the storage and recovery.

In terms of the impact on businesses, Mr Morris said the Magdalena Grand Hotel management has indicated fumes from the oil spill have been affecting some guests and occupancy remains good at this time.

He said fisher folk have been affected in a significant way.
