More Collaborative Work Needed In Addressing Challenges Facing Women In Society

Going back to basic, revisiting communities and the upbringing of girls and boys are cited as critical in turning around and addressing issues such as domestic violence in society.

This suggestion was put to the forefront by interim chair of the Joint Trade Union Movement Women’s Group, Sati Gajadhar-Inniss.

The union official made the comment while contributing to a webinar hosted, recently, by the Movement for Social Justice on the topic “Stress Facing Women Today”.

It was held in recognition of International Women’s Day.

Ms Gajadhar Inniss cited the importance of incorporating international conventions which this country has endorsed but has not been brought to the forefront in a meaningful way in various arrangements.

Meanwhile, MSJ Activist, Renee St. Rose, also reflected on the importance of having more positive role models and how they can help influence the lives of young men.

Ms St Rose reviewed the seriousness of mental stress experienced by many women as they try to cope with the various demands of the household and workplace especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
