Mom and daughter rescued after kidnapping from Maraval home

A woman and her daughter who were snatched from their home in Maraval on Friday morning, were rescued last evening in the Morvant area by police.

Forty-five-year old Petrina Hernandez and her 19-year-old daughter Amelia Roberts were at their Andalusia Drive, Maraval home at around 4 am when several men stormed the house and ransacked the home.

The women were then bundled out of the home and into a vehicle.

Three cars belonging to the homeowners, a black Nissan Cefiro, a brown Hyundai Tucson and a silver Toyota Yaris were also stolen from the driveway.

The vehicles were later seen in St Barbs near the basketball court.

Investigators suspect the attackers may have accessed the community using the Maraval river.

The circumstances surrounding their rescue has yet to be revealed by police.

Police confirmed that both women were found safe, but noted that Roberts had only minor injuries. They were later taken to a private hospital for further examination.
