Six persons were arrested for illegal mining following an operation conducted in the Wallerfield district on Thursday afternoon.
The intelligence-led operation was conducted between 12 noon and 3 pm, on Thursday 7th September, 2023, during which officers of the Northern Division Gang Unit and Task Force proceeded to Block Five, Moonan Road.
There six persons, ages 53 to 58, were arrested for Processing Without A License and Mining Without A License.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matter.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service continues to conduct intelligence-led exercises to tackle the issue of illegal quarrying, which has been linked to gang activities and murders.
