Met Office Issues Second Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert This Week

An adverse weather alert yellow level is now in effect.

The Meteorological Service says there is a high chance of thunderstorms overnight due to the passage of a low level trough embedded in the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone.

It says these thunderstorms are capable of producing gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h which can lead to fallen trees, displace unsecured items and further agitate seas.

Street/flash flooding and localized ponding are also likely in heavy downpours.

Members of the public are being asked to not wade or drive through flood waters.

Secure loose outdoor items and livestock.

Persons are advised to monitor weather conditions and river levels.
