Men charged with murder in one week – four charged over the weekend

The Homicide Bureau capped off a successful week, which saw ten persons accused charged with murder. Following murder charges being laid against six persons early last week, four more suspects have been charged with murder, stemming from three separate incidents of homicide.
Another suspect was charged in connection with the death of Special Reserve Police Officer KYLE LASHLEY, while two other suspects were charged in connection with another incident which occurred in Tobago. Another suspect from Diego Martin was also charged with murder in connection with a June murder which occurred in Diego Martin.
As a result of the police investigations, three of the four accused are expected to appear at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today after they were charged with Murder.
On 22nd November 2022, JAHMARLII BALFOUR also called SHORTS, 23, of William Trace, Scarborough and Adventure, Plymouth, Tobago was arrested by officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One Tobago. Based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard S.C., BALFOUR was jointly charged with Murder.
He is the third person charged in connection with the murder of SRP Kyle Lashley, which occurred on 12th November 2022.
Additionally, on Friday 25th November, an audience was held with the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard S.C., and advice was received that, JUSTIN ABRAHAM, 28 and DAVRIL WILLIAMS also called ‘HAPPY’, 31, both of Hope Trace, Tobago be charged for the offences of Murder, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
On Wednesday 16th November, JUSTIN ABRAHAM was arrested by officers attached to the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID). While 24th November, DAVRIL WILLIAMS, was arrested by officers attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One Tobago Sub Office, with assistance from the Tobago Divisional Task Force. Both men were arrested after officers conducted investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of EMERO BAYNES, age 28 years of Grafton Old Road, Pleasant Prospect, Tobago, who was killed on Thursday 22nd September 2022 at Belmont Road, Hope, Tobago.
Meanwhile, the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region One Office conducted investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of DHANMATIE HARRY, 40, of Quarry Street, Diego Martin, and the wounding of CHEEKEH KING, 24, of St Hillaire Street, Diego Martin. Both men were shot on Saturday 25th June 2022 at Diego Martin Main Road in the vicinity of Rocky’s Fried Chicken.
On 31st October 2022, ISHMAEL BRADSHAW, 21, of St Hillaire Street, Diego Martin, was arrested. Following the advice of Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard S.C., BRADSHAW was charged for the offences of Murder, Attempted Murder, Possession of Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life and Possession of Ammunition with Intent to Endanger Life, on Friday 25th November
The accused is expected to appear virtually before the Port of Spain Magistrate’s Court on Monday 28th November 2022.
Investigations are continuing.
