Mayaro man arrested for wounding a pensioner

A 52-year-old man was arrested by officers of the Tableland Police Station on Sunday 31st January, 2021, for an allegation of wounding.

Around 8 pm on Sunday, a 61-year old pensioner, of Naparima Mayaro Road, was working at a bar, cleaning the premises. He was approached by a man known to him, who lives near the bar. An argument ensued between both men and the suspect dealt the 61-year-old two chops to his body, which resulted in injury to his left hand and the left side of his face.

The proprietor of the bar made a report to the Tableland Police Station and a party of officers responded, interviewed the victim and several persons who provided information.

With the assistance PC Figaro and officers of the Emergency Response Patrol-South, the suspect was arrested.

Investigations are continuing.
