Kamla: Gov’t has lost focus on crime!

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar says that the Government has no focus and this has led to the burgeoning crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago.

Speaking at the United National Congress Virtual meeting on Monday evening, Persad – Bissessar said that the murder rate for the year so far is on track for the highest murder toll ever.

Referring to the shooting death of nine year old Jomol Modeste, she said that while the People’s National Movement is focused on the UNC the public is made to pay the price as they are being slaughtered.

She referred to the absence of the pepper spray legislation which she stated leaves women in a vulnerable situation as it pertains to crime.

She maintained that the TTPS remained crippled because of PNM interference.

The Opposition Leader said that while the PNM was focused on a witch hunt involving UNC members the population has been paying with their lives as crime continues unabated.
