PSC meeting minutes allegedly claim PM’s interference

The Government has crossed the line.

So says former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith as he claimed the Cabinet has become involved in matters beyond its role and function.

Speaking at a press conference today, Griffith revealed minutes from a Police Service Commission meeting which suggested that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley attempted to influence the Commission’s decision making process.

Griffith read from minutes of a Commission meeting dated in August of last year, which he obtained via a Freedom of Information Request.

The minutes also revealed that members of the Commission felt strongly about the Prime Minister’s involvement in the PSC operations.

He added that the TTPS should get involved as there is enough prima facie evidence to suggest that someone acted in violation of the and possibly is guilty of misbehaviour in public office.
