However President of the Route Two Maxi Taxi Association Linus Phillip says he believes the real cause of the flooding in Port of Spain has to do with the retention pond outside of City Gate.
He told News Power Now this morning that the issue lies in the negligent handling of the maintenance of the pond.
He says the pooling of water is directly linked the pond and the lack of regular servicing.
He said that traffic was backed up since early this morning.
In fact he told our newsroom that he had to come to the assistance to the police who came to direct the traffic.
He said what contributed to clearing up the traffic was the help of other maxi drivers and PTSC.
