Man surrenders to police following stabbing incident

One man is currently warded at hospital and another in police custody, following an altercation which occurred in the San Juan district on Monday.

The attack stemmed from an incident which took place last Friday, October 30.

The victim, a 46-year-old man told police that on Friday he was proceeding into Laventille Road, in his white Nissan Tiida motor vehicle, when he almost collided with a blue Toyota Corolla driven by a man. He said he and the driver of the other vehicle got into a heated argument, before they both drove off in different directions.

On Monday 2nd November, the victim and the man got into another argument during which the victim drew a short cutlass from his vehicle and dealt the man several blows about his body. The man drew a knife and dealt the victim several stabs about the body before returning to his vehicle and driving away.

The victim was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment, where he remains warded in a stable but critical condition.

The suspect of Santa Cruz, subsequently surrendered to officers of the San Juan Police Station.
