Labourer charged for robbery with violence

AKEEM NELSON, a 23-year-old labourer, of Iere Avenue, Iere Village, Princes Town, was arrested on Friday 26th March, 2021 and subsequently charged for robbery with violence and indecent assault.

He pleaded not guilty when he appeared at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to reappear on April 26th 2021.

On March 17th 2021, around 1 pm, a 28-year-old woman opened the front door of her home in Princes Town after hearing a knock.

She was confronted by two men, each armed with a knife. One of the men announced a robbery while the other allegedly cuffed and slapped her which resulted in injuries.

He then proceeded to kiss her about her body while the other suspect took a cell phone valued at $1,900.

Both men then escaped by running toward a bushy area towards Iere Village, Princes Town. The woman was taken to the Princes Town District Health Facility for medical attention.
