Trinbago Knight Riders came back from the dead on the back of a 28-ball 72 by captain Kieron Pollard to beat Barbados Tridents by 2 wickets with one ball to spare in the CPL match on Saturday.
Needing 149 to win in 20 overs, TKR’s chase had an early blow as Jason Holder struck twice in the second over. Kieron Pollard changed the complexion of the chase, coming in at Number 7.
Coming in at 62-5, with Barbados Tridents needing 87 to win from 44 balls, he smashed 72 off 28 balls, with two fours and nine sixes to take TKR to the brink of victory before being run out in the last over.
Johnson Charles (47) and Kyle Mayers (42) led the charge in the Tridents innings, but the scoring rate was restricted by the Knight Riders bowlers. Ashley Nurse (19), Rashid Khan (12) and Mitchell Santner (8*) came up with some lusty blows towards the end to take the score to 148/7 after 20 overs.
