Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has confirmed that there are five suspected cases of COVID-19 at the Iere High School located in Siparia.
The persons are two students who are said to be relatives, while three are staff members with no connection to one another or the pupils.
The first employee was never at school but tested positive for the disease; the second was assessed and the medical officer ruled that no swab was necessary; while the third staffer was the primary contact of a confirmed case.
In addition, Dr Gadsby-Dolly disclosed that the principal of the school submitted a list of persons for contact tracing which has not been confirmed by the County Medical Officer of Health (CMOH).
Over 60 individuals were said to be identified.
However, she assured that protocols have been implemented to address these issues, since earlier this year.
