Kamla says scholarship cuts “a totally backward move”

Government’s decision to cut the scholarship programme is a tremendous blow to the young people of this young.

This is the view of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who slammed Government’s cut of the scholarship programme from 400 scholarships annually to 100.

At a virtual briefing Friday, she said “It is most unfortunate, disgraceful and shameful… especially since government could still find $23 million to outfit a building in St Clair rented to the state by relatives of Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi.

Persad-Bissessar urged government to reconsider the cuts which she dubbed “a totally backward move.”
