Israel Khan: Chief Justice more concerned with undermining DPP than improving the judiciary

The Chief Justice is more concerned with undermining the DPP than improving the judicial system.

This is the claim coming from attorney at law, Senior Counsel Israel Khan.

Mr Khan chided Chief Justice Ivor Archie over the recent public row between the duo.

Archie responded after DPP Roger Gaspard claimed that the Judicial and Legal Service Commission, which Archie heads, was responsible for the staff shortages in the DPP office.

Speaking this morning on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show, Mr Khan proffered suggestions which he said Mr Archie could focus on to improve the judicial system.

He suggested the establishment of a gun court to address the backlog of cases in the judiciary.

Mr Khan claimed that military service for students out of secondary school and the implementation of a parole system in prisons are also options which can have a positive impact on society.

He however suggested that politicians lack the political will to make the necessary steps to address crime.
