Former Minister in the Ministry of Finance Mariano Browne says that energy prices have recovered financially, gas prices in particular and this accounts for the optimism of Finance Minister Colm Imbert.
The price of oil has not quite doubled but close to it.
However he said that there is a problem with the reasoning behind the Minister’s optimism.
He maintained the long term outlook is not particularly good where gas is concerned unless there is more drilling and production.
He also said that the Budget Presentation was seemingly geared to appeal to the man on the street, who the Government would need on their side whenever they go to the polls.
