Hinds: PM’s call for foreign investigation into return of $22M “understandable”

Former Minister in the Ministry of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds says there is nothing abnormal about the Prime Minister ordering an investigation into the return of $22million to an organiser of a sou sou.

During a People’s National Movement Virtual Post Budget ‘meet-up’ on Thursday, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said he approached the British Government for British Police Officers to investigate the matter of the ‘Drugs Sou Sou’.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Friday morning, Hinds said based on the accusations that arose from the matter the Prime Minister’s call for an independent inquiry is understandable.

In fact, he said that investigation of this nature is quite normal.

He also referred to comments made by some including the Member of Parliament for Oropouche East that the Government was wasting money on foreign investigators.
