Hinds: Opposition leader would say anything for votes!

Kamla Persad Bissessar would say anything for votes!

So says Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds, who indicated that he was astounded though not surprised at the behaviour of the Leader of the Opposition.

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar promised easier access to Firearms Users Licences (FULs) for law-abiding citizens after the UNC wins the next general elections.

And with this ease of access to legal firearms under a UNC government, she said at the party’s public meeting in Chaguanas on Monday that citizens should “light them up!” referring to criminals who enter someone’s home.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning Hinds implied that the Opposition leader had self-serving interests for her recent comments and did not have in mind the safety of the people.

He accused Persad Bissessar promoting violence for votes.

He said the laws are adequate enough to protect the people of Trinidad and Tobago in cases where persons must defend themselves against criminals.
