Gun, ammo and drugs seized in South Western and Eastern Division, 2 arrested

Police found and seized a firearm, ammunition and drugs during anti-crime exercises in the Eastern and South Western Divisions yesterday.

While on patrol officers executed a search warrant at a house on Hollywood Road, Fanny Village, Point Fortin and found and seized one nine millimetre pistol fitted with a magazine and 17 rounds of 9 millimetre ammunition. A female security officer was arrested in connection with the find. The items were secured and taken to the station for processing.

This exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Soodeen, ASP Phillip, A/Insp. Mohammed, Sgt Joseph, Sgt Mason and directly supervised by W/CPL Plenty and included members of the Southern Division Task Force.

Meanwhile in the Eastern Division, officers of the Eastern Division Task Force arrested a 21-year-old man, for the possession of marijuana on Monday 6th May, 2024.

According to police reports, between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:50 pm yesterday, the suspect handed over 1.2kgs of marijuana, four rounds of nine millimetre ammunition and four rounds of 5.56 ammunition to the police. He was formerly charged on Tuesday 7th May, 2024, for the offence of Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Ammunition by PC Singh.

Enquiries are ongoing in both matters.
