‘Gando’ charged with murder of 6-year-old Kylie Maloney

A 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court today, after he was charged with Murder, on Monday 16th January, 2023, following the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard S.C.

Aaron London, also known as ‘Gando’, of Darmarie Hill, Sangre Grande, was charged after homicide detectives conducted investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of 6-year-old Kylie Maloney. The accused was also charged with three counts of Wounding with Intent, Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

Senior Superintendent Rishi Singh of the Homicide Bureau of Investigation commended the officers involved in the investigation, which led to the breakthrough in the matter. Snr. Supt. Singh said that the family and entire the entire community were traumatised by the incident, and he hopes that as perpetrators are brought before the courts, the family can get some sort of closure in this tragic situation.

Police records indicate that around 2:15 am on Sunday 8th January 2023, officers responded to a report of a shooting at Lp. 64 Blake Avenue, Sangre Grande. Enquiries revealed that around 2:05am that morning, four persons were asleep at their home when they were awakened by the sound of their dogs barking. One occupant made checks by looking at his CCTV camera system and observed armed men, dressed in camouflage. Shortly thereafter, several loud explosions were heard.

On arrival, the officers observed Kylie Maloney and three other victims with gunshot injuries and conveyed them to the Sangre Grande Hospital. Kylie later succumbed to her injuries around 3:15am.
The investigation was supervised by ASP Douglas, Insp. Ramjag (Legal Officer) and Sgt. Radhaykissoon.
Charges were laid by Cpl (Ag.) James, of HBI Region Two.
