Flooding, landslides and damaged homes in Charlotteville, Tobago following heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall in parts of the sister isle of Tobago on Tuesday, resulted in the entire village of Charlotteville being flooded out.

According to the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), the heavy rainfall also led to several damaged homes in the village.

Additionally, landslides obstructed the Charlotteville Main Road near the Hairpin bend, rendering it inaccessible.

TEMA says the relevant authorities were alerted and were actively addressing the situation up to last evening.

TEMA noted that those living in the housing scheme found themselves trapped in their homes until the water subsided, while residents in Top River had to grapple with the significant impact of a landslide.
