PM reveals new National Quarries board approved and Atlantic LNG to be restructured

The Cabinet has approved the appointment of a new National Quarries Company Limited board to ramp up the country’s road rehabilitation programme.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made the announcement at Thursday’s Post-Cabinet Media Briefing held at the Diplomatic Centre, St. Ann’s.

He said effective August 30th, the company was assigned to the Ministry of Works and Transport.

Rowley said he also expects the signing off on the restructuring of Atlantic LNG to occur before the end of the year. He said the team at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries have done significant work and are very close to inking the restructuring.

The Prime Minister also revealed that he will lead a ministerial team to the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The team will include the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator Dr Amery Browne, Minister of Planning and Development, Pennelope Beckles and the Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh. His Excellency, Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago has been appointed the President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
