Education Minister Addresses Safety And Security At The Nation’s Schools

School social workers and guidance counsellors led sessions with students today following today’s bomb threat made to schools across the nation and the invasion by gunmen hours ago at the Belmont Secondary School.

At a news briefing today, Minister of Education, Dr Nyan Gabsby Dolly, said there are regular patrols and interaction between the principals and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service at schools located in areas where there are high incidents of crime.

She said there continues to be security and safety officers at the schools and the partnership between the Police Service remains strong.

Minister Dolly said there are infrastructure issues at the Belmont Secondary which must be addressed and the reliance on the Police Service is vital moving forward.
