Driver injures as he jumps out of moving car to escape gunman

A 43-year-old taxi driver was injured however he may have managed to save his own life after jumping out of a moving car to escape an armed robber in Trincity.
The victim told police that around 3pm on Saturday, he was in his green Nissan Almera, when he stopped for a male passenger near Cane Farm Junction, Trincity.
He explained while heading east along Fifth Street, the passenger pulled out a gun and announced a robbery.
However, the taxi driver resisted and a struggle ensued.
The victim, police said, attempted to exit the moving vehicle, however, he became entangled in the seatbelt.
The suspect got into the driver’s seat and continued driving, dragging the victim in the process.
The driver sustained injuries to both his hands and legs. However, he managed to free himself from the seatbelt. The suspect drove off.
The police were notified and a team of officers from the Arouca Police Station responded.
