Doctors and nurses disppointed with heavily taxed Government payout

Nurses who have received ex-gratia payments say they feel duped and disappointed with what actually landed in their pockets!

They say the monies promised to them by the Government and the money they actually took home did not add up as the payments have been taxed.

The Health Ministry said health sector workers are receiving ex-gratia payments after their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However News Power Now was reliably informed this morning that while nurses did receive payments they have been taxed by some twenty five percent.

One well-placed source told us that while the tax was never mentioned by the Government, the tax was only supposed to affect those nurses within a particular tax bracket.

However we were told that this also did not occur the payment for all the nurses was taxed.

We also understand that doctors also reported receiving up to one fifth of the gross ex-gracia payment by Government.
