Angus Eve laments T&T’s immigration laws after record US defeat

T&T players are lacking fitness and need to consistently play football at a high level.

This is the sentiment being shared by T&T head coach Angus Eve after the US condemned the Warriors to a group stage exit from the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 6-nil defeat.

The loss means T&T finish third in their group behind Jamaica and the US with only the top two teams moving forward.

Speaking after the match Eve lamented the defending and suggested it had to do with the level at which the players play their football.

Eve, during the post-match press briefing, also repeatedly cited the limitations which prevents T&T from emulating other Caribbean neighbours by integrating foreign born players into the team though their heritage.

While FIFA allows players to play for countries from which their grandparents may have emigrated, T&T laws do not necessarily allow for this.

Eve suggested that this needs to be changed if T&T is to be competitive in CONCACAF.
