UNC says Gov’t constantly breaking the law

THE Government has consistently been breaking the law, and they continue to do so now!

This is the view of Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar who made the comments during a UNC press conference this morning.

At issue she said were the words of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley last night on the political platform.

She read from a report in one of today’s dailies quoting Dr Rowley as saying that he realised that there were errors in the law and they had to run Government ahead, and so he instructed Leader of Government Business Camille Robinson Regis to recall Parliament next Wednesday.

She claimed that this decision was based on two pre-action letters based on Government’s illegal actions under the hand of the Minister of Finance to issue orders to say they were exempting foreign services from the application of Procurement Legislation.

She insisted the Government has consistently been breaking the law and this is another example.

The Opposition Leader said that the Government was now caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

He accused the Government of now attempting to reach deeper into the cookie jar by calling a sitting of Parliament.
