Digicel and Flow issue statements on widespread service interruption

Digicel has issued a statement to customers as concerns about the outage spread.

“Valued customer, we are aware that some of you may be experiencing an outage with your internet services. Preliminary investigations indicate that the cause is a technical issue with our international upstream internet suppliers which is affecting multiple internet providers across T&T and the Caribbean. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and assure you that we are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, in a statement on Facebook, Flow said: “Flow wishes to advise its customers that we are aware of the current interruption in your service and that our engineers have already been mobilized and are working to restore full connectivity in the shortest possible time.”

Cable and Wireless, Flow’s parent company added that it could take days for the situation to be solved on their end.

They said “Splicers and additional divers are arriving in Guadalupe today. Guadalupe fibre repair and restoration activity will commence tomorrow. This will be a temporary solution in order to quickly reestablish traffic connectivity. A tentative ETR (estimated time of repair) of Thursday, December 10, has been provided.”

All major providers were affected, including TSTT.

Some customers have seen a restoration of service and all internet connectivity should be restored to everyone by midday.
