Dennis: Augustine “taking front,” intent on destroying credibility of TTPS and destroy Judiciary

Chairman of the People’s National Movement Tobago Council Ancil Dennis said THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine was seeking to discredit the Police Service and the law of the land by what he described as “abusive and reckless statements”.

This follows Augustine’s bombshell revelations on Wednesday.

Dennis said, “He (Augustine) is clearly aware of where this might head. So that attempt yesterday was simply intended to take front, destroy the credibility of the TTPS, and destroy the Judiciary so that if perhaps the situation goes into a direction where he might be charged, he can cling on and hold on to office improperly.”

Dennis is of the view that the videos shown were not authentic.

“It is a sad time in the history of this country where a Chief Secretary, having found himself in trouble with the law, is prepared to do anything, including utilising fabricated evidence, fabricated video to implicate other persons in his troubles.”

Dennis admitted that he has known ‘whistleblower’ Akil Abdullah for the last ten year.
But declined to say if he met with him recently.

Abdullah was shot in the national spotlight after he was shown in a video during Wednesday’s special sitting of the Tobago House of Assembly at the Legislature Chamber on Jerningham Street, Scarborough.

Abdullah was the person who spoke of an alleged conspiracy involving Prime Minister Keith Rowley, Commissioner of Police Earla Harewood-Christopher, Senior Council Gilbert Peterson, and Dennis who met to plot the removal of the current THA executive from office.
