The Ministry of Health has confirmed that one additional person has died as a result of the COVID-19 virus.
The person is an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 84.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the County Medical Officers of Health (CMOHs).
The Ministry then provided the clinical update as of the morning of Wednesday, October 7:
Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19- 32,770
Number of unique patient tests completed- 29,664
Number of repeated tests- 3,106
Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago- 4,876
Total number of active cases- 1,782
Number of deaths- 84
Number of persons discharged from public health and stepdown facilities- 1,114
Number of recovered community cases- 1,896
There are 106 Covid-19 patients in the hospital:
Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility- 65 (5 ICU and 8 HDU)
Caura Hospital- 26
Arima General Hospital- 3 (ICU)
St Ann’s Hospital- 3
Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort- 8
Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill- 1
There are 13 COVID-19 Positive Patients in Step-down / Transition Facilities:
UWI, Debe- 10
Tobago- 3
