Couple gets lost in Catshill forest after using Google Maps

A couple left Penal to attend a wedding at Guayaguayare Village, Mayaro using Google Maps – the app offered a short, quick route.

However according to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team the route took them through an abandoned oilfield road, along the Guayaguayare Road, Rio Claro.

The couple drove for 19km along the deserted road and then turned around and got stuck on a mud bank.

The Association said the couple walked for 2 hours on the road through the Catshill forest and just before dark they reached Touchstone Security Gate.

The Hunters Search and Rescue Team, led by Captain Vallence Rambharat assisted with the retrieval of the vehicle.
