The businessman identified as Bing Zhu Zang, 49, was the owner of Golden City Supermarket, Silver Mill, San Juan.

Zang reportedly closed the grocery around 10 pm and went to drop an employee in Barataria – and upon his return around 10.20 pm – he was ambushed by three men who had been hiding behind an ice-freezer on the western side of the gated compound.

Zang struggled with the bandits and was shot.

The suspects then jumped the gate and escaped on foot.

Officers pursued the men and were allegedly confronted by one of the suspects who reportedly fired at them.

The police reportedly returned fire and killed the suspect during the exchange.
