Youth Development Assures Daily Paid Worker It’s No Closing Presto Praesto

The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service says it is not closing the Presto Praesto Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre or any other facility.

However, the Ministry is currently refurbishing this facility along with the YDAC at Chatham and El Dorado.”

On Wednesday a group of daily-paid workers employed by the Ministry visited its Head Office to air their concerns about job security.

The persons are currently employed at the Presto Praesto Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre formerly referred to as ‘youth camps.’

While some of the YDAC Daily Paid workers were at the Head Office in Port-of-Spain, a meeting was held with workers from the same facility with the Director of Youth Affairs.

The meeting was intended to provide an update on the refurbishment and expansion works at the YDAC and directly address the concerns of the workers.

In April 2022, the Ministry started refurbishment and construction work at the Persto Praesto Youth Development and Apprenticeship Centre in Freeport.

The centre will provide a Residential Development Programme for young males, which would incorporate technical-vocational skills as well as a holistic approach to the personal development and empowerment of our nation’s youth.
