A police officer was shot dead in the Couva district during the early hours of this morning.
The officer has been identified as Corporal Carlon Mitchell.
Reports indicate that gunshots were heard coming from the vicinity of Lolita Bar on Southern Main Road, Mc Bean, Couva around 1 am today.
When first responders arrived, they found Mitchell lying face down on the pavement. He had been shot several times in the chest.
Investigations are ongoing.
