UNC says Property Tax could have ripple effect

The Opposition United National Congress is reiterating its disapproval of any attempt to implement property tax.

Oropouche West MP, Davendranath Tancoo made the UNC’s position clear again at a press briefing yesterday.

He claimed that the Government’s move to levy another tax on the people of Trinidad and Tobago at this time is evidence of their lack of caring and empathy for the citizenry.

Citing the current economic climate, MP Tancoo said now was not the time to be introducing or considering the imposition of further taxes to burden the tax payer’s pocket.

He argued that that the tax could have a ripple effect and lead to an increase in the cost of goods and services.

Mr Tancoo accused the Government of making the public pay for the bad Governance decisions which have led to economic losses.
