North Central Division officers arrested 13 persons and seized a quantity of contraband during a joint exercise conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Prisons Service at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.
Between 4pm and 10pm Thursday, the team of officers recovered 28 cellular phones and arrested thirteen persons. Ten improvised weapons, two sim cards and a small quantity of marijuana were also seized.
The police party included officers from the Northern Division Task Force, North and South, North Central Task Force, Special Operations Unit, Guard and Emergency Branch, Arouca, Piarco Criminal Investigations Department and also the Prisons Emergency Response Unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
