Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed has offered some suggestions to government for a safe mass vaccination process in Chaguanas
In a letter to the Health Minister, Mohammed said one of the main priorities of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation is to ensure the safety of all its burgesses during the fight against the COVID-19 virus.
He said during Wednesday’s vaccination process at the Chaguanas District Health Facility, citizens found themselves in long lines, awaiting their COVID-19 vaccines. This chaos caused breaches in the Covid-19 health protocols.
“Based on my observation of the Chaguanas District Health Facility, I noticed this institution cannot accommodate this type of vaccination rollout due to the limited capacity and physical space.”
Therefore, he said he is suggesting the use of the following:
· Bakarah Grounds which can accommodate a Drive Thru/ Walk in site
· NCIC Complex which can accommodate a Drive thru/Walk in site
· The Indoor Sporting Complex at Saith Park can accommodate Walk in site
· ASJA Educational Complex can accommodate a Drive Thru/Walk in site
Mohammed said permission will be granted by the above mentioned facilities, once the Ministry agrees to this suggestion.
