An accident along the Tarouba Link Road near South Park on Monday morning has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Eyewitnesses said the deceased, identified as Ezekiel Maharaj of Chatham, Cedros, was killed when he tried to overtake a truck transporting fuel near the traffic lights.
Maharj’s bike is said to have come into contact with the left side of the truck, which led to him being pitched into the road.
His bike skated under the left side of the truck, while the fuel tank detached and caught fire. The truck driver stopped and put out the fire.
No one else was injured.
