Tabaquite MP Anita Haynes-Alleyne says she supports colleague Rushton Paray’s call for internal party elections.
While she disagrees that Paray’s call for internal elections was an attack or an attempt to destabilise the party, she did signal her support for Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar as party leader.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning she said that conversations surrounding the issue have been unnecessary as the party can hold internal elections while simultaneously get ready for general elections.
She said the best way to support the Party Leader is to call for internal elections.
She noted that the conversation around a screening committee suggests that the internal elections would not be on the front burner.
Explaining a recent comment in the media on her decision to speak out on the issue, she said that she is prepared to stand by her position whatever the consequences.
