A shotgun and two rounds of ammunition was found during the early hours of Monday morning in St Joseph.
Around 1am, members of the Northern Division Area West received information that a gun was hidden in a forested area off La Grine Road, Maracas, St Joseph, and responded.
While conducting a search of the area, officers found a black plastic bag with the gun and ammunition hidden in a bamboo patch.
No one was arrested.
St Joseph police are continuing enquiries.
