Two persons were arrested and a quantity of cocaine seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force (NDTF), during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the El Socorro district on Monday afternoon.
The road block exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Francis and Supt. Carty, was conducted around 2:30 pm, on Monday 23rd October, 2023, and included officers of the NDTF Area South and the La Horquetta Police Station.
Acting on information, officers stopped a motor vehicle with two occupants. A comprehensive search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the discovery of 36 boxes containing computer accessories. Further examination of the boxes revealed the presence of 1.038 kilogrammes of cocaine.
The drug has an estimated street value of $1,447,906.52.
The two occupants, a 58-year-old man of Diego Martin and a 37-year-old woman of Petit Valley, were arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
