2 Lotto booth bandits arrested

Two suspects won a trip to the Besson Street Police Station, after allegedly breaking into a business place and stealing a quantity of ‘Scratch’ tickets and other items.

Around 4:15 am on Thursday 9th November, officers responded to a report of a break-in at a Lotto outlet located at Nelson Street, Port of Spain. When PC Gill and a party of officers arrived at the scene, they observed that the building had been broken into and entry was gained through the front gate of the establishment. When the officers searched the building, they found two men hiding at the upper floor of the building.

When the officers searched the two men, they found $6000 worth of National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) ‘Scratch’ tickets on their person. The two suspects were arrested and taken to the Besson Street Police Station.

The owner of the business arrived around 6 am and the officers informed him that there was a break-in at his business place. When he made a check of his establishment, he discovered that two 32-inch televisions, one RCA Radio, one fan, three bottles of olive oil and $420 cash were missing.

Enquiries are continuing.
