Straighteners caught with stolen vehicle parts

Southern Division Task Force (SDTF) officers arrested three individuals and recovered a stolen vehicle and vehicle parts during operations on Saturday.

At approximately 5:30 pm on 3rd February, 2024, SDTF officers executed a search warrant for stolen articles at a garage located at 6th Company Village, Indian Walk, Princes Town.

Officers searched the premises and discovered and seized two separate Hyundai/Kia engines, two cabs, and one tray belonging to Hyundai H100 vehicles. Two self-employed straighteners, aged 51 and 49, from the above-mentioned address, were arrested and taken to the San Fernando Police Station.

Earlier that day, PC Ramjattan, PC Guerra, and PC Weeks of SDTF successfully intercepted a vehicle bearing false plates, traveling south along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, in the vicinity of the Torouba Overpass. Checks were made to ascertain the correct registration of the vehicle and it was revealed to be stolen from the St. Clair district on 26th August, 2023. The driver, a 22-year-old from Gulf View, La Romain, was arrested. Enquiries are continuing.

These successful exercises, which were spearheaded by ASP Phillip, and Inspector Ramlogan, are a response to a marked spike in Larceny Motor Vehicles in the Southern Division.
