WASA and T&TEC told to restore utilities to affected areas immediately

Princes Town MP Barry Padarath is urging WASA and T&TEC to move expeditiously to restore utilities to areas affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Noting the power outages experienced in both Trinidad and Tobago, Padarath says these issues must be addressed before nightfall, especially in rural areas.

Government has confirmed that there were 29 power outages in Tobago and 20 in Trinidad.

He also noted that it is critical that people receive water for cleanup efforts and called on the Local Government Ministry to work with all 14 municipal corporations to provide additional water trucking.

MP Padarath’s statement also comes as WASA confirmed that a number of water treatment plants were out of operation due to power failures and turbid river conditions.
