Veteran photographer Russell ‘Butch’ Lim Choy has died

Russell ‘Butch’ Lim Choy, one of this country’s renowned photographers, has died at the age of 73.

According to a post on his nephew Robert Lim Choy’s page, ‘Butch’ passed away at the family home, in St James, on Saturday morning.

Robert wrote:
A renowned photographer, he was responsible for capturing and documenting so many memories for thousands of people over the years, from calendars to Carnival, family photoshoots to corporate events, and especially weddings. I was so happy that he was able to take the photos at my wedding with both of my brothers, and three years later, that he was able to meet his first great-niece.
Uncle Butch, you will be greatly missed, for your dry sense of humor, gruff but kindly nature, willingness to speak your mind when good advice was sorely needed, and your unshakeable faith in God Almighty.
Thanks in advance for all well-wishers for your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to post your favorite photos and share your favorite memories of him below.

Family and friends described Butch Lim Choy as a very warm and generous person, always teaching and fine-tuning his craft.
