UPDATE: TS Dorian hits St. Lucia

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued an update on the location of Tropical Storm Dorian.

The center of the storm was located over St. Lucia around 11:00a.m. and is currently over the eastern Caribbean Sea. TS Dorian is moving west-northwest at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h.

The released from the MET office continues:

“The Tropical Storm Watches have been discontinued for Grenada and its dependencies, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St.
Lucia and Martinique. The following is a summary of watches and warnings as of 11:00 a.m. today:
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for:

  • Puerto Rico
  • Dominican Republic from Isla Saona to Samana

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

  • Martinique
  • Puerto Rico
  • Dominican Republic from Isla Saona to Samana

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:

  • Dominica
  • Saba and St. Eustatius
  • Dominican Republic from Isla Saona to Punta Palenque
  • Dominican Republic from Samana to Puerto Plata

TROPICAL STORM DORIAN POSES NO DIRECT THREAT TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO OR GRENADA AND ITS DEPENDENCIES AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE LESSER
ANTILLES”.
