Two Frearms and narcotics recovered in South Trinidad

Two firearms were recovered along with quantities of narcotics during intensified anti-crime exercise conducted across the country this weekend.

Exercises conducted in area South of the Central Division between 10 am and 4 pm, on Saturday 20th May, 2023, resulted in the discovery of quantities of marijuana in the Freeport district.

Officers also proceeded to Church Street, Freeport, where they conducted a search of a bushy area, where they found one revolver and a quantity of high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $8,000.

Meanwhile, in the Western Division, a man reported to the St. James Police Station, that around 2:10 pm, on Saturday 20th May, 2023, he was at a barbershop in the district, when a man armed with a gun entered.

The man said he and the barbershop owner were successful in disarming the man who ran out of the establishment.

One Beretta pistol loaded with a magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition was handed over to officers.

In the Northern Division, efficient work by officers conducting investigations into a report of Robbery with Aggravation which occurred early this morning, Sunday 21st May, 2023, resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The accused is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate tomorrow.
