Tunapuna shoppers duck for cover as man killed opposite market

A man was killed near the Tunapuana Market on Saturday morning, in full view of children and their parents who were busy doing back to school shopping and those making their normal market rounds.

Around 10:50am, Valmiki Narine, also known as Doole, of Pasea Road Extension, Tunapuna, reportedly went to play a mark at a Play Whe booth on the corner of St Vincent Street and the Eastern Main Road, opposite the Tunapuna Market, when he was shot in the upper body and died on the scene.

The gunman is said to have exited a car and shot him, returned to the car and escaped.

The incident caused everyone to scamper in fear.

Police arrived five minutes later and cornered off the area.

Investigations are underway.
